Happy 1-Year Anniversary, Spinoffmagazine.com

Jan 27, 2010

Can you believe that it's been a year already since we launched spinoffmagazine.com—amazing how quickly time passes when you're having fun, isn't it?

We have more than 18,500 users (hey, that's a lot of spinners all in one place!), there are 1,437 threads (well, we know that there are many more threads, but in this context I mean conversations, rather than, you know, yarn) and 3,281 posts. One-hundred forty-six photos and videos have been uploaded and shared; photos of completed projects (wow, there are some gorgeous projects—have you looked at them recently?), handspun yarn (scrumptious yarn), and really informative instructional spinning videos. I've always said that spinners are a generous lot! The way you share information in the forums and throughout the site is heartwarming. I also love to see how new spinners are welcomed into the fold.

I'd love to hear from you about the site—do you use it? How do you use it? Is it useful? How does it compare to other fiber sites that you use? What do you love about it? What would you like us to change? Let us know here, in the comments.

Hi All;

For the last 32 years of marriage there have been spinning wheels in the house, and, real dust bunnies, and thousands of dollars spent on raising sheep, rabbits, and dye plants (and 2 kids...that are hairy, but do not produce much usable product here) and lots of "ands"!  While moving a few years ago, part of the cargo was Spin Off Magazine...I think it was referred to as "tonnage" by said offspring!  That being said, genetically both boys are set up for "fiber addiction" and they better not take meds. to get rid of it...their father and I have it bad and that is so good!  Congratulations, Salutations, and Spinerations...to another 50 years...hip, hip, ramie!

I'm brand new to spinning. Don't own a wheel yet.  I found a wonderful person who shares hers with me and has been very generous with her time and encouraging words. I found Spin-off thru her I have the fall and winter issues and have read them to death.  Thank you so much for such a wonderful-fun magazine. As a knit nut and a crochet fiend, I can't wait to spin yarn for the ideas I have in my head.  Next step- weaving!  And I have found it to be true that Spinners are a generous lot, happy to share info.  Thanks!  I hope to get someone started someday and pay it forward.
